Q: How long have you been a therapist?
A: I have been a therapist for over 20 years. I trained at the Southern California Counseling Center back in 2003-2004. I then worked as a therapist and supervisor at Jewish Family Service Los Angeles for 17 years where I did individual, couples and family therapy. I also taught a parenting group and led a men's support group and a diabetes educational group. Throughout the years, I have maintained a private practice. These days, I focus primarily on couples providing short-term, positive and practical relationship therapy to help couples reconnect in a loving way.
Q: Do you only work with Jewish clients?
A: Though I am Jewish orthodox myself and am familiar with Jewish culture and religious practices, I have also worked with hundreds of individuals and couples from various cultures.
Q: Do you speak any other languages?
A: I speak Hebrew and French.
Q: What is your educational background?
A: I have a Bachelor's degree in Speech Communication, a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University and a certificate in Management Essentials from Harvard Business School online.
Q: Do you accept insurance?
A: I do accept some insurance plans (United Healthcare, Aetna, Oscar and Cigna). Please visit my Alma page to find out more. I also accept Blue Cross. To see me under that plan, please visit my Headway page to verify your insurance. If I don't accept your insurance, I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement.
Q: What is different about the type of Couples Therapy you do?
A: Imago therapy has two main components. 1) Most of our sessions will be centered around a dialogue that you and your partner will learn. I will facilitate the dialogue to make sure that the conversation remains positive and productive. One pleasant surprise about doing therapy with me is that there are no arguments in sessions. They are positive in nature and that is important since having a good experience in therapy translates to more positive experiences at home. 2) The second component of Imago therapy is the understanding that many of the frustrations we have towards our partner originated a long time before we met our spouse. Understanding the connection helps you improve your marriage. I will explain how when we meet.
